This location has become one of my favorites. Being able to walk up behind the falls is a nice addition. The falls are approx 25-30 feet in height falling a straight 90 degrees down into a small pool at its base. The pool wasn’t very deep when I attended.
Important Information – These falls are a very short walk to reach and are on a human trafficked trail. Expect to walk on exposed tree roots, gravel, rocks, and dirt/mud. There is a rope to assist your travel down to the base of the falls. These falls do not offer a place to jump or swim although it may be deep enough to submerge yourself during high volume. The trail to the falls from the road is approx 300ms and is easy to follow. The trailhead is before a gradual right turn in the main road heading towards Hampton that is labeled with a caution yellow turn sign and has guard rails present overgrown by vegetation on St Croix Cove Rd. This is just past lot 8968. Heading towards Hampton on the left-hand side of the road at this location the shoulder of the road is large enough to park off the pavement. The trailhead is direct across the road. The vegetation is grown but a small trail is identifiable. Approx. 50ms in, the trail leaves the long vegetation and becomes wider venturing through the forest. Relatively flat until the last 50ms where ropes have been tied to assist you down to the base of the falls. You should be on the right-hand side of the river and falls when walking, facing in woods towards the Bay of Fundy.
Directions – These falls are located near Bridgetown, Nova Scotia just outside of Hampton, Nova Scotia on St Croix Cove Rd (Shore Rd. E). If you are traveling from Halifax you will head towards the valley on Highway 101 (Harvest Highway). Passing the valley and heading towards Digby looking for exit 19. Taking exit 19 and turning right onto Elliot Rd. Following Elliot Rd until you reach Clearance Rd, turning left onto Clarence Rd. Continuing along Clarence Rd. until reaching Nichols Mountain Rd on the right, turning right. Driving up Nichols Mountain Rd until you reach your left turn onto Arlington Rd. Driving Arlington Rd until turning right onto Brinton Rd. Brinton Rd will lead you to a left hand turn onto St. Croix Cove Rd (Shore Rd. E). Your destination will be just passed lot 8968 on your right.
