T.R.’s Falls, Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia

GPS : 44.494620, -66.065139

This fall is a rather large fall in an area you would not expect it to be. A short walk to the river’s edge and this massive fall is to your right. The view from the top looking down the fall and out towards the ocean are both great. The fall is approx 60 feet high and drops multiple times. It drops at multiple angles. Looking down you will see the water falling straight in different sections and also running down the rock face into the river below. A small pool is at the base of the falls depending on when you visit due to the dependence of water flow.

Important Information – These falls are located in Sandy Cove, Nova Scotia which is past Digby, driving down Digby Neck towards Brier Island. They do not offer the opportunity to swim or jump but if you wish to swim just up the road traveling back to Digby there is a nice lake to cool off in. The falls very easy get to. The trail is only a couple hundred meters long and relatively flat the entire time unless you decide to venture down to the bottom of falls. The trailhead is at the end of Old Post Rd. You will see a house on your left and a container on your right, walk straight into the woods. The trail is approx 250ms in length. The trailhead is not marked but it’s hard to miss. It starts out as an old overgrown grassy road then goes right into the woods on a human trafficked path. This path isn’t too narrow and it consists of mostly dirt, loose rocks and tree roots. You will follow this path until you reach the first left-hand turn which will bring you to the river’s edge. Once you reach the river’s edge the falls will be on your right. If you wish to go to the bottom of the falls the path to do so is hard. You will find this path shortly after you turn left on the path heading towards the river’s edge so with this being said it will be on your right-hand side just before you reach the river’s edge. This path has multiple ropes present tied to trees as you will be going at a steep decline down the hill. It is approx an angle of 60-70 degrees for about 100 feet. Do so at your own risk. Important to note that Old Post Rd is not paved, it is a very bumpy gravel/dirt road, drive it at your own risk.
