Noel River Falls, Noel, Nova Scotia

GPS : 45.286683, -63.736958

You will encounter three falls. The top fall is the smallest at only 5 feet in height and falling at angle of 80 degrees. The bottom two falls are stacked on top of each other. Both standing at approx 15 feet in height and falling approx 80 degrees.

Important Information – These falls are surrounded by private property. It was the location of an old mill but since has been purchased for private use. If you plan to attend these falls do so by avoiding private property. I chose to walk 1km upstream to the bottom two falls. Water levels were low so I was able to stay below high water mark. The walk is 2kms round trip from Highway 215 just after Lake Rd on the left. Simply walk upstream to the falls. These falls do not offer the opportunity to swim or jump.

Directions – These falls are located in Noel off Lake Rd. If you are leaving from Halifax head towards Truro on Highway 102 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway). Once you are on Highway 102 you will be taking exit 10 towards Maitland. Turning right off Highway 102 to the end of the off ramp and then turning left onto Highway 215. Follow Highway 215 all the way into Noel until you Lake Rd on your left. You can try to go up Lake Rd. If you decide to do so, the falls are 1km up this road on the right hand side roughly 100ms into the woods. Find the safest and most legal way to these falls. Or you can start from Highway 215 and head upstream staying below the high water mark.
