A surprisingly wide set of falls. You will encounter three in total with the first one being the biggest. The first and biggest fall is approx 20ft in height and falls at an 80 degree angle while falls two and three are located 100ms and 200ms respectively upstream. Each is approx 10 feet it height and falls at approx an 80 degree angle.
Important Information – The trail to the falls is off Northfield Rd off Highway 215. Drive approx 1.3kms up Northfield Rd to an unmarked trailhead on your left. It is big enough to spot. The trail is very easy to navigate and only 800ms round trip. It is a human trafficked trail that is wide enough for a four wheeler. As you are walking the trail, you will see on your left approx 100ms in, a huge drop in elevation. The trail leads you along with edge of the steep ravine until you begin a 50m decline that is moderate. No more than a 50 degree decline throughout. This will place you on top of the first and biggest fall. No trail was spotted leading you down to its base and the pool below. I would suggest crossing the river, going up the other side of the ravine and making your way back down river until you see a more gradually decline back down. As for falls two and three, they are to your right upstream 100ms and 200ms. Walk the rivers edge or wade the river upstream to reach these falls. The first and second waterfall you encounter do offer somewhere to swim but not jump. The pools are deep enough to get your head wet.
Directions – These falls are located in East Noel off Northfield Rd. If you are leaving from Halifax head towards Truro on Highway 102 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway). Once you are on Highway 102 you will be taking exit 10 towards Maitland. Turning right off Highway 102 to the end of the off ramp and then turning left onto Highway 215. Follow Highway 215 all the way into Noel until you Reach Northfield Rd on your left. Turn left and drive approx 1.3kms until you see the trailhead on your left.
