Camp Carter Falls is a short 200m walk to a nice 25 foot waterfall plunging down at 80-90 degrees into a small pool below. Located just minutes off the highway this is a quick easy stop to visit a good size waterfall.

Important Information – This waterfall is in New Harris near Cape Dauphin and the Seal Island Bridge. It is an easy 200m walk upstream to reach the base of the falls. The trail is a human trafficked trail so expect to walk on exposed tree roots, dirt/mud, and rocks. If the volume of flow is high expect to get a little wet as the trail is very close to the brook. The pool at the base of the falls does not provide the opportunity to jump or swim but it deep enough to splash some water around.
Directions – This waterfall is in New Harris which is near the Seal Island Bridge in Cape Breton. If you are travelling from Halifax you will want to jump on Highway 102 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway) travelling towards Truro. When you reach Truro you will take Exit 15W towards Cape Breton via Highway 105 (Trans Canada Highway). Following Highway 105 all the way over the Canso Causeway and through Cape Breton to an area called New Harris. New Harris Rd is the last right hand turn before Seal Island Bridge. Take this turn onto New Harris Rd. and continue straight passed the campground on your right until you reach a bridge that crosses over the brook below. Roughly 2kms down the Rd. The falls are upstream from this location. You will find a trailhead just before the bridge on your right. The walk to the falls is approx 200ms.
