Callender Brook Falls, Chester, Nova Scotia

These falls are just outside of Chester, Nova Scotia near Callender Lake. They are easy to reach and have multiple small drops. No drop is above 10 ft and most are a cascade type. The dense forest surrounding the falls makes it very picturesque.

Important Information – These falls are located just off an old service road. The trail is 2kms in length. Once you have parked on the right-hand side of the road, follow the road on foot. You will come to a fork in the road, continue right. Once you reach the river, they’ll be a small bridge to cross. You can cross the bridge and turn left or turn left before the bridge. There is no path to follow so be sure to follow the river downstream. The falls are located less than a kilometre downstream. If you do decide to cross the river and follow the old service road be sure to head into the woods towards the river before this service road veers to the right as it will take you away from the falls and the river. The walk is fairly easy through the forest along the edge of the river. These falls do not offer a chance to swim or jump.

Directions – These falls are located just off David Collicutt Rd. in Chester, Nova Scotia. If you are leaving from Halifax, drive towards the south shore on Highway 103 (Fishermen’s Memorial Highway). Taking exit 8 on your right towards Highway 14. You will turn right at the end of the off-ramp and head along Highway 14 until you reach Canaan Rd. on your right. Your second right is David Collicutt Rd. Take this right-hand turn. Follow the road to its completion of a driveable surface and begin to follow the road on foot.
