Upper Burnside Falls, Upper Burnside, Nova Scotia

GPS : 45.300652, -62.972245

Within Burnside Community Park lays these small but wide falls. The unique area of these falls makes them special. Being surrounded by high faced rock walls tucked away from the park above. The falls themselves are approx 15 feet in height falling at an angle of approx 50 degrees. The river continues onward quickly and does not sit in a pool at the base of the falls.

Important Information – These falls are not very high and I wouldn’t suggest swimming at their base or jumping. Downstream a short distance where the river wraps around the rock face there was a small area of the river 6/7 feet deep with a small ledge to jump off. These falls are located in a community park so there is well established and maintains trails along with outhouses. The trail is approx 300ms in length. The park is very small and to get down to the river’s edge is you take a designed wooden staircase of approx 50 steps. This park is located on Pembroke Rd in Upper Burnside. This is not a paved road and expect potholes.

Directions – Traveling from Halifax you will head towards Truro on Highway 102 (Veterans Memorial Highway). Before reaching Truro, you will be taking exit 12 into Brookfield. Continuing right onto highway 289. Follow this highway until you reach Pembroke Rd on your left. The Community Park is on Pembroke Rd on the right-hand side.
