Christie Brook Falls, Murray Siding, Nova Scotia

What a treasure to find. This river has multiple drops just 400ms away from each other. The main fall has a rather deep pool. The uppermost fall has clearly been used as a popular swimming hole due to the rope swings tied to tree branches and garbage can present. Just a short distance from the road, these falls are easily accessible to all. The top fall is approx 10 feet high falling at an angle of 60 degrees. The bottom fall is about 20 feet and falls at an angle of 90 degrees. 

Important Information – These falls give you the opportunity to go for a swim and a jump if you please. Being just a few meters from the road, these falls can be enjoyed by all. The path starts roadside and is marked by flagging tape. The entrance is very small so make sure you look closely. The path itself is a human trafficked carved path. You will be walking on exposed tree roots, loose rocks, dirt or mud. The walk is a short and relatively flat minus in the middle where there is a 45-degree decline before leveling off again. The path starts on the right-hand side of Greg Rd, approx 200ms passed the intersection of Greg Rd and Charmac Rd if enter Greg Rd from Old Greenfield Rd.

Directions – These falls are located in the area of Murray Siding/Greenfield, Nova Scotia. If you are leaving Halifax, you will travel towards Truro on Highway 102 (Veteran’s Memorial Highway). When you reach Truro you will drive passed it and take the exit towards Cape Breton. You will now be on Highway 104 (Trans Canada Highway). Take exit 17, turning right onto Salmon River Rd. follow this road until you reach Valleydale Rd. Turn left onto Valleydale Rd then left onto Old Greenfield Rd. Greg Rd will appear on your right, drive Greg Rd until you pass Charmac Rd on your left. This is when you should start looking for the path entrance on the right shoulder of Greg Rd.
