GPS : 45.491228, -63.613550

The Great Village River provides multiple falls. The largest being Londonderry falls. Upriver roughly 500ms you will encounter a smaller waterfall that has a very deep pool at its base. The main falls are approx 20-25 feet in height and fall at an angle of approx 90 degrees. These falls can be seen from the bridge just a couple hundred feet downriver. The smaller falls upriver are approx 5 feet high and fall an angle of approx 90 degrees. The view from the bridge looking down at the falls is magnificent.

Important Information – The main Londonderry fall does not allow you to swim or jump but the upriver falls do. As you travel upriver you will see multiple deep sections of the river that you can swim in. The deep pool at the base of the smaller falls has multiple places in which you can jump on. It is also easily accessible to walk in. The paths to both falls are human trafficked paths on natural vegetation. You will mostly be walking on dirt, loose rocks and tree roots. Both paths are a little steep in sections as they are short declines down to the river’s edge. On average, your way down will be at an approx angle of 50 degrees. The path down towards the main fall is just around the corner after the bridge on your right-hand side as the end of the guard rail before the cement barrier. The path down towards the upper falls is located approx 500ms up the road after the bridge on your right-hand side. Neither path is marked or labeled. Be aware that the path down to the main falls requires using your hands at the very end if you wish to climb down a small rock face (approx 5 feet) to stand on top of the falls. The paths simply start along the side of the road where you’ll see a small gap in the vegetation. Looking down these small gaps you’ll see the created beaten down paths. Each path is 400ms or less to reach the river’s edge.

Directions – These falls are located in Londonderry which is just outside of Great Village, close to Wentworth Valley, Nova Scotia. Following Westchester Rd, you will come to a fork in the road, continue on the left-hand portion of Westchester Rd. You will come to a bridge that crosses high above the river.
