Miller Lake Falls are located just outside the city of Halifax, near the Halifax Airport. The falls are approx 10-15 feet high and fall at approx 75-90 degree angle. I chose to visit after several rainy days which increased the pure size of the falls and volume of water flowing. I could hear the falls from where I parked my car. The river flows downward from Solider Lake into Miller Lake.
Important Information – The falls are small but after several rainy days, they explode down the river creating a powerful sound. You cannot jump at these falls but the multiple lakes surrounding you make swimming a high possibility. The falls are located beside the Halifax Airport on Perrin Dr. The trail to reach the falls is very short, approx 100ms. You will see the trailhead right off of Perrin Dr. on the left-hand side if driving from exit 5 off of highway 102 (Veterans Memorial Highway) or Exit 14 from Highway 118. On the opposite side of the road where the trailhead is you will see a clearing overlooking a lake along with a fire hose pumping station. The trailhead is just before the small bridge you cross that has the falls rivers running beneath it. Just over the bridge is a small court called Sanctuary Ct.
Directions – These falls are a short drive from Halifax. If you are leaving from Halifax you will want to drive towards the Airport or Truro on either Highway 102 or Highway 118. Highway 102 you will take exit 5 in fall river. At the end of the off-ramp, there is a roundabout. You want to take the round on the other side of the roundabout. There will be an option to go right along the lake to your right or left up past the Petro gas station. Take neither of these options, you want to take the adjacent road from where you entered the roundabout. Following this road, up the hill, and around a right-hand bend you will come to a left hand turn onto Perrin Dr. Take this turn and following Perrin road for roughly 2kms. If you chose to take highway 118, take exit 14 and turn right at the end of the off-ramp onto Perrin Dr. Follow Perrin drive for approx 2kms. The trailhead will be on your left just before a small bridge and Sanctuary Ct.
