Borden Brook Falls, Blomidon, Nova Scotia

GPS : 45.260744, -64.356473

This is a set of 3 falls located directly in Blomidon Provincial Park. The first and second fall you encounter is approx 5-10 feet high falling at a 90-degree angle and 80-degree angle respectively just 10 feet from each other. The third fall is just 100 feet upriver from the second fall and is approx 40 feet high falling at an angle of approx 75 degrees. Depending on when you attend the water may be flowing hard or not flowing at all. These falls look amazing when flowing with lots of volume. There is a staircase built on the right-hand side of the first two falls. When the water is flowing with lots of volume it falls down the staircase for a great photo opportunity.

Important Information – These falls do not allow you to swim or jump. They are located within a provincial campground. The staircase on the right-hand side of the first two falls is exposed to erosion, weathering and high volumes of water flowing over them, use at your own risk. The trail itself is well-groomed and marked, minus the trailhead. To reach the falls from the trailhead it is approx 800ms. The trailhead is located 200ms up from the main gate as soon as you travel up towards the campground area on your left. Park in the parking area at the bottom of the hill and walk up the hill on the left-hand side until you see the trailhead. It is an open space in the treeline and is hard to miss as there are no other options to take. Approx 700ms into your walk along the trail, you’ll come to a fork in the road. Left takes you on the Borden Brook trail and right takes you up towards the falls. There is signage in this location to help. The overall terrain of the trail to the falls is easy and mostly flat.

Directions – These falls are located in Blomidon, Nova Scotia. They are within Blomidon Provincial Park. You can access these falls whether the gate is open or not at the base of the hill. If traveling from Halifax you will head towards the valley on Highway 101 (Harvest Highway). Take exit 11 turning right onto Greenwich Conn which turns into Highway 358. Follow Highway 358 which will turn into Highway 221 (Main St) until you reach Pereau Rd on your left. Follow Pereau rd all the way to its end which will be the Blomidon Campground.
